Bring Art to Southwest Oklahoma. It was formed as a Foundation with a working gallery by Leslie Powell in his will. We charge no admission and no commission on works sold. We give art scholarships to deserving art students at Cameron University, grants, hold concerts, film prmiers, regular lecture series. We hold a national art show every two years with $5000.

The Museum's 2½ acre compound includes a replicated Red River Trading Post, the original Blue Beaver schoolhouse and Elgin Depot, and a Frisco steam locomotive. The Artifact Collection of the Museum of the Great Plains consist of three primary divisions: ethnology, natural history and cultural history. Archives holds over 570,000 primary documents donated by area residents.

The Museum was opened June 2, 2009. Previously, the Artillery Collection was part of the Fort Sill National Historic Landmark and Museum collection. Our collection includes a representation of uniforms from each era. We have added many new pieces and exhibits to peak the interest of any history or artillery buff.
