Chestnut Square might be described as an everyman's village. Set on two acres, just southeast of McKinney's historic downtown square, Chestnut Square consists of five houses, a general store, a chapel, a stage coah inn and a smoke house. Plans are to bring in, or replicate, a 1900s school house this year (2004) thus rounding out the sense of community.

The Heard-Craig Historic Center consists of a 7,000 sq. ft. historic home and carriage house built in 1900. The home contains breathtaking stained glass, original furnishings, personal belongings, family heirlooms, and art collected by the Heard and Craig families.

The Heard family was instrumental in the early development of the city of McKinney.

The Plano Conservancy for Historic Preservation, Inc., a newly organized 501c3 non profit Texas Corporation, entered into an agreement with the City Of Plano to operate the Interurban Railway Station Depot Museum. This unique museum is focused on the Electric Railway System which operated in North Texas from 1908-1948.

The museum houses artifacts and displays from that system.
