We are working hard to have the Depot open to the public on Saturdays in 2008. We have started a complete inventory. We have quite a few items in the Museum and are now working on getting them labeled and improve upon our displays. It's really a constant struggle to maintain our membership rolls and encourage our members to continue volunteering.

The Center's research collections date back to the opening of The University of Texas in 1883. As the University's holdings in Texas history grew, scholars urged their consolidation and special housing. In 1945, University regents created the Eugene C. Barker Texas History Center.

The Texas Pioneer Arts Foundation operates the Henkel Square Pioneer Museum Village right in the heart of historic Round Top. It is a collection of buildings dating from the 1830's to 1900, all of which are fully furnished with artifacts from the extensive Bybee Collection.

This State Historical Park contains the remains of 1840's era Texas Militia Soldiers whose remains were brought back at great risk and with great effort to be buried in their home area "with honor". The story of how these brave men came to die, and how their remains came to be brought back to this location for final burial is one of the most tragic and stirring stories in modern Texas history.
