Francis and Ann Marie Koenig first came to Calvert County in 1955 seeking a retreat from his career as an architecht/builder/developer in Washington, DC. They quickly fell in love with the area and in 1956 built a beach house in Long Beach. Soon they became avid sailors and could often be found heading out of Flag Harbor Marina on their sailboat, "Annmarie.

The skipjack Nathan of Dorchester was built by volunteers in Cambridge, Maryland, in 1994, the last skipjack on the Chesapeake Bay built to be a dredge boat. It quickly became apparent that her true mission was in keeping the Bay's unique skipjack heritage alive through educational and recreational sails.
Our volunteer crew members are a crucial asset to our organization.

Vessels built along these shores changed the course of the nation's military and economic history.
