"If I have blessings at my disposal, Old Vermilion will come in for a boutiful share." Abraham Lincoln said when he made his last stop in Danville. He was on his way to assume the Presidency in February 1861.

Now you can walk in Lincoln's footsteps when you visit the Vermilion County Museum Complex. History is everyone, and you will find something for everyone here.

The Vermilion County War Museum is located in Danville's original public library building. Constructed in 1903 through a gift of Andrew Carnegie, the building served as the library until 1995, when overcrowded conditions necessitated moving to a new location. The Carnegie building was donated by the City of Danville to the War Museum board, and through the efforts of a great number of individuals donating thousands of hours of labor, it has been restored to its present condition.

We are located at the Poplar Grove Airport and have an extensive campus, including three restored airplane hangars, a 1930s-era garage, and a Sonoco gas station with authentic gas pumps!
