The 390-million-year-old fossil beds are among the largest naturally exposed, easily accessible Devonian fossil beds in the world. It is a coral-sponge patch reef. The park features a beautiful interpretive center overlooking the fossil beds containing an exhibit gallery and video presentation. The fossil beds are in the bed and bank of the Ohio River and are best exposed late summer to late autumn.

Fountain County Clerk's Building is a local history museum. Built in 1842 by County Commissioners as a fire-safe depository for county records, it originally sat on the courthouse square and housed the first law office of author, stateman, inventor Lew Wallace. Sold in 1859 and moved 2 blocks to its current location where it was used as a private residence for 140 years. Fountain County Art Council, Inc.

Over 2500 square feet of murals, painted by local artists on the atrium walls of the Fountain County Courthouse in 1939 under the direction of Euguene V. Savage world renown muralist and howetown boy. Depict the settlement and development of the Wabash River and Fountain County, Indiana area. Only known place in the world to have such an exhibit of local history portrayed in murals. Courthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009 as art and architecturally significant.
