Camp Blanding was a major U.S. Army training facility during the Second World War. It was originally established as a state-owned training reservation in 1939 for the Florida National Guard. However, as war clouds materialized, the mobilization of reserve forces and the rapid expansion of the entire United States Army required Camp Blanding to be converted to a federal reservation. It was subsequently enlarged to house two complete infantry divisions along with many separate units.

Friends of Camp Grant meet every other month staring in January, third Thursday. Located at 101East Main Ave., Bismarck, this site preserves part of a military installation established as Camp Greeley in 1872 to provide protection for work gangs then building the Northern Pacific Railroad. The camp's name was changed to Camp Hancock in 1873. A log headquarters building still stands on the site; it has been enlarged and remodeled several times, and the logs have been concealed by clapboard siding.

Camp Van Dorn was a Theater of Operations camp established after the bombing of Pearl Harbor to train men for the war in Europe. The museum is dedicated to honoring and preserving the memory the camp and the men and women who trained there. Veterans have been incredibly generous in donating artifacts to this museum. The Mississippi Department of Archives and History works closely with us to aid in preserving the integrity of our collections.

The Camp White training site consisted of buildings and an area stretching to the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. A few miles from the camp were Upper and Lower Table Rocks, flat rock formations hundreds of feet high, and Mt. McGlaughlin which looked like an inverted ice cream cone. In addition to the 300th, Camp White was the training site for their sister battalion, the 299th Combat Engineers.

At Cannonball House we strive to educate,promote and develop public interest in the cultural, architectural and historical heritage of the community. The house is a beautiful example of Greek Revival Architecture. In 1864, the house was struck by a Union Army artillery shell, damaging the front and an interior wall. It was the only residential property in Macon damaged during the battle of Dunlap's Farm.
