"The General Israel Putnam Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, has enjoyed a distinguished and esteemed one hundred year history. It was organized and has been run by a long line of dedicated, committed women, who descended from many different founders and leaders of our great nation. On April 19, 1895 twenty charter members formed the chapter in honor of General Israel Putnam, a Revolutionary War soldier, born in Danvers, Massachusetts, January 7, 1718.

Located in the southwest Oklahoma town of Hobart, the current museum is housed in recently-renovated historic downtown buildings. The 9,500 square foot facility includes a gift shop, a show room and display gallery that showcases items from General Frank's personal collection. Built in 1927 at Dubuque, Iowa by the U. S. Government, the S.S. Thorpe inaugurated barge service on the upper Mississippi . The first of four steamboats built for the revival of river transportation, it was the first to move barges from St. Louis north to St. Paul. It remained in service there until 1940, when it was sold to Armco Steel Corp. and put in service on the Ohio River. Armco renamed it the George M. Verity after their founder.

The area that comprises Georgetown and all of Scott County was primarily Indian hunting grounds prior to settlement. This was changed by the French and Indian war of 1754 -1763, and the defeat of Pontiac’s uprising in 1763-1764. These events led to a treaty in 1768 that gave England extensive rights to lands in the west. A short time later in 1774 John Floyd traveled down the Ohio river as a deputy surveyor of Colonel William Preston.

The Girl Scout First Headquarters was built in 1848 as the carriage house to the Andrew Low House. Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts, converted the carriage house into the Girl Scout Headquarters shortly after she founded Girl Scouting in March of 1912 in Savannah, Georgia. It was willed to the Girl Scout Council of Savannah upon her death in 1927.

The trains are running at the Glenwood Railroad Museum, located in the historic (1904) Rio Grande railroad depot. Two large rooms full of railroad history, with operating model trains, gift shop, photo displays and full-size Union Pacific, Amtrak and BNSF trains right outside.

Ten years of hard work and dreaming on the part of many Goldenrod citizens came to fruition on Friday, August 11, 2000. On that day, the Goldenrod Historical Society accepted the keys to the Goldenrod Fire Station from Orange County as the first step in developing a new Community Center to be called the Goldenrod Station and Museum. Celebration of the Grand Opening of the Museum was held on October 6, 2001.
