Special Hurricane Note:GAC suffered minor damage (a broken window and probably some water damage), but the building is still standing. The building was inundated with 4 feet of water in the downstairs galleries and the majority of the Helen Altman exhibition suffered water damage. The doors to the building are swollen and/or rusted shut. It appears from the NOAA satellite cam that the roof of the building is intact.

The Galveston Arts Center is a non-collecting exhibition space with three galleries and a sales shop with a gallery. We present between 26 and 32 exhibitions in the four gallery spaces per year of artists living and working in the region. The exhibitions are one-person, small group and large group in all media.
