True Colorado experiences come alive at the History Colorado Center! The landscape of Colorado was shaped over millions of years. Its natural beauty is diverse and unmatched. Its people? They're just as distinctive. Visitors of all ages will experience Colorado's rich history from a whole new perspective in exhibitions that blend technology, artifacts and environments to shape compelling stories. Prepare to traverse an 40x60-foot map of the state with a storytelling “time machine;” travel the plains virtually in a Model T; don a headlamp and descend into a hard-rock mine; and soar off the world’s first ski jump. Do all of these activities and more among Colorado’s most historic treasures.

Botanical Garden, Children's

Located in the middle of the Mile High City, Denver Botanic Gardens was one of the first gardens in the country to emphasize native plants and to champion environmentally responsible practices, such as water conservation and biological control of pests.

Today, Denver Botanic Gardens continues this tradition at three unique sites: Denver Botanic Gardens, Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield and Mount Goliath. Each of these demonstrates the varied ecosystems of Colorado.

Most of all, Denver Botanic Gardens offers spectacular plant displays, unlimited opportunities for lifelong learning and research that help preserve Colorado's precious natural resources.

Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art has a nationally important display of international decorative art. More than 3,300 works are on view of Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau, Glasgow Style, Wiener Werkstätte, De Stijl, Bauhaus, Art Deco, Modern and Pop Art. This collection concentrates on a period from the 1860s to about 1980. A major survey of regional art, with a focus on Colorado art, is documented. More than 700 works by about 170 artists are displayed at any one time. The regional art collection has an emphasis from 1820 to about 1980. The museum also shows a retrospective of Colorado's distinguished painter, Vance Kirkland (1904-1981). Kirkland Museum is a member of the Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
