Historical Society

After seven years and $2.5 million dollars, The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum (formerly known as The Old Citrus County Courthouse) proudly showed off her renovations in a public grand opening celebration on October 21, 2000. Traditionally, courthouses are symbolic to the founding, pioneering spirit of the people who settled and shaped their communities. The historic Citrus County Courthouse in downtown Inverness, Florida, reflects this same proud heritage. Today the authentic to-period restoration of the 1912 historic courthouse continues to reflect the strength of Citrus County communities working together.
