After seven years and $2.5 million dollars, The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum (formerly known as The Old Citrus County Courthouse) proudly showed off her renovations in a public grand opening celebration on October 21, 2000.
Traditionally, courthouses are symbolic to the founding, pioneering spirit of the people who settled and shaped their communities. The historic Citrus County Courthouse in downtown Inverness, Florida, reflects this same proud heritage.
The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum is a cultural center with exhibit galleries on pre-history, local history and rotating exhibits. It is housed in the Historic 1912 Courthouse, a National Register of Historic Places building, where Elvis Presley starred in, the climatic courtroom scene, of the movie Follow That Dream.
