The Allegheny Portage Railroad has many interesting things to see. Visit the Lemon House- a historic tavern built to accommodate travelers. Discover the Engine House- a replica of the many buildings that made up the Portage Railroad. Watch a movie in our visitor center and browse the many exhibits and models. Drive out to the Staple Bend Tunnel unit to hike and explore the nine hundred foot tunnel (remember you need to walk 2 miles each direction when visiting the tunnel).

Georgia. Located in the Pine Grove Furnace State Park in Gardners, Pennsylvania, the museum is conveniently near Carlisle, Gettysburg and Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

In 2007, the museum completed the largest expansion in its history with the opening of Dinosaurs in Their Time, the finest dinosaur experience in the country. In addition to more than 20 galleries and the Powdermill Nature Reserve research field station, Carnegie Museum of Natural History maintains, preserves, and interprets an extraordinary collection of 21 million objects and scientific specimens; so many that less than one percent are on view at any given time.
