Louisiana cultures comes to life in the new Bayou Country Children’s Museum. Located in Thibodaux, Louisiana, this hands-on museum will provide the type of recreational learning experience desired by parents and educators and have a lasting impact on child development. For children, play is a critical way to find out about new things. The ability to play is instrumental in scientific exploration, discovery and creativity.

The museum will provide children ages 2-12 years with a unique learning environment that enhances the classroom experience. Most exhibits will correspond with established Grade Level Expectations and further inspire teachers to include more hands-on activities in the classroom.

Beauregard Museum

The Beauregard Museum is located in historic downtown DeRidder, in the old Kansas City Southern depot, built in 1926. It houses items from Beauregard Parish's sawmill and timber industries, rural life artifacts, Native American arrowheads and pottery, historic photographs, antique furniture and much more. A stainless-steel KCS caboose is also on the museum grounds.

Eight buildings within a two block area comprise this community museum located in the historical downtown area of Zachary, Louisiana, offering a rare picture of neighborhood life in a small town from the waning years of the 19th century through the 1960's. Three dwellings, a barn, a carriage house,a pavilion, a Railroad Depot and the Old Town Hall with an adjacent fire house provide the setting for a leisurely walk down "Main Street USA". Wtihin view are several more (private) dwellings, the old movie theater, and the Zachary Bank, completing this "Currier & Ives" snapsot of Americana. Visit daily, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm, and at other times by appointment.
