Discover the rich history and culture of Amelia Island, a tiny paradise with a big place in Florida's history books. Housed in the historic Nassau County jail, the Museum showcases the island's 4,000 years of Florida history.

The South Florida Museum is the largest natural and cultural history museum on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Under that same roof is also the Parker Manatee Aquarium, home to Snooty, thought to be the oldest living manatee in captivity at age 61. With Snooty, are manatees in rehabilitation for US Fish and Wildlife. The Bishop Planetarium is a digital planetarium which serves also as a multipurpose theater.

The museum's focus is on Brevard County and the East Central Florida Region, by presenting exhibits on Windover, Brevard's oldest Archaeological Dig site, Taylor collection, Pioneer Women, Florida Crackers, Canaveral Lighthouse, Reference & Research Library, Citrus Industry, a Butterfly Garden, 22 acre nature reserve with trails and the Children's Imagination Station, just to name a few.

The museum and historical society collects, preserves and displays items relating to the history of Cape Coral. Come learn about the pioneer families that worked the land, the era of the Rosen brothers and their Gulf American Corporation when Cape Coral and its vast canal system were built, and learn about the beginnings of the city of Cape Coral which was incorporated in 1970. Cedar Key Historical Society sponsored museum which consists of two buildings which are accessible to the public.

The Historical Center museum is currently closed. The Historical Center continues to offer off-site exhibits, preservation, outreach and programs for all ages, focusing on the history, culture, built environment and natural surroundings of Charlotte County.

The City of Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park & Cultural Center consists of the Indian Temple Mound Museum, the Camp Walton Schoolhouse Museum, the Garnier Post Office Museum, the Fort Walton Temple Mound and a Civil War Exhibits Building.

Since its beginning in 1967, Cracker Trail Museum has collected over 4,000 items related to pioneer-era Florida history. Each item is maintained either within glass enclosed cases or strategically placed around the floor of the museum. Many of the larger items are provided in a setting that would be reminiscent of pioneer living. The items are identified with a tag that not only gives its description, but includes the name of the person who donated it.

The Deering Estate at Cutler, a Miami-Dade County Park, is located at 16701 SW 72 Avenue in Miami. This 444-acre natural and archeological preserve and historic site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a center for education, culture and recreation. Historic house tours are offered daily at 10:30 am and 3:00 pm. Natural areas tours are offered daily at 12:30 pm (October – May). EcoAdventure Tours are also offered throughout the year for an additional fee.

Located inside the Florida Public Archaeology Network headquarters in downtown Pensacola, the Destination Archaeology Resource Center is an archaeology museum open to the public. Inside you will learn about the amazing archaeological sites that you can visit and experience throughout the state. Our exhibits include displays about both land and underwater archaeology sites.

The Florida Agricultural Museum preserves heritage livestock breeds of Iberian descent. We own herds of Florida Cracker Horses and Cattle, both of which are among the rarest livestock breeds in existence today. The Museum offers tours of the Strawn Citrus Complex from the 1930s, the Clark Homestead and Traxler Store from the 1890s. The Black Cowboys exhibit can be visited in Espanola building.

Fort Mose is the site of the first legally sanctioned free African American community. In 1693 King Charles II of Spain issued a royal proclamation offering freedom to all male and female slaves in exchange for their conversion to the Catholic religion and service to the Crown.

The Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park is a 15 acre waterfront, Historical Site where St. Augustine, Florida began in 1565. Here, on September 8, 1565, Spanish Explorer Pedro Menendez de Aviles established the oldest continuous European Settlement in the U.S., and held the first recorded Thanksgiving Feast between Europeans and Native Americans - 55 years before the Pilgrims. The site is 42 years older than Jamestown, and is open 364 days a year.
