Tehama County Museum

In 1980 the Tehama County Museum foundation was created by a group of local citizens to preserve and exhibit artifacts that represent the cultural heritage of Tehama County. -- For years a highway sign on Highway 99E directed travelers to the First Tehama County Court House, which was to the Masonic building. In 1962 when the Masons were celebrating their 100th Anniversary, they arranged to have Superior Court Judge Curtiss Wetter hold court there for one session. However, the act did not succeed in saving the California Historical Landmark designation for the building. In 1980 the building was designated as a National Historic Site. The Clark Center for Japanese Art and Culture

Through a significant gift of Japanese paintings from the Clarks, the Clark Center's collection was established in October of 1995. Nearly one hundred and sixty hanging scrolls, thirty pairs or single screens, ten works of sculpture mainly from the Kamakura period (1185-1333), and a number of pieces of decorative art primarily from the Meiji period (1868-1912) are housed at the Center. The gallery spaces allow for approximately ten percent of the collection to be on display at one time. Among the highlights of the collection are exquisite Buddhist sculpture and painting from the Kamakura period, a wide range of paintings from the Edo period (1615-1868), and a selection of folding screens of the finest quality.

The Muir Experience Museum

The museum is located in the William Knox Holt Library on the University of the Pacific, Stockton campus. It is in the Library on the main floor. It is called the Muir Experience and is mainly digital, though the archives have many of John Muir's original papers.

The Camp Roberts Historical Museum

The Camp Roberts Historical Museum does not drift into the mainstream of museums, with every exhibit locked away behind glass. Instead, the visitor drifts among the epochs of the camp's enormous history, in an intimate association with the subject. Tulare Historical Museum
