Coarsegold Historic Museum is located in a historically rich area of eastern Madera County. Three separate tribes of American Indians are represented here: Chukchansi, Miwok and Mono. This area is the end of the gold chain--the gold highway "49" should end in this region. There was much logging, mining, homesteading and cattle ranching done by the "white man" who came to the area in the mid 1800s. The museum has attempted to show the visitor the area in terms of days gone by.
