The city of Sachse made available to the Society a building, which was renovated in 2005 and opened as a museum in 2006. Due to rapidly expanding enrollment and less rapidly expanding building space, it has become necessary to pack up all of the museum items and assign them to storage. Museum staff can only access its file cabinets, yearbooks, and catalogues at present. It is certain that the museum will eventually re-open.

The Silent Wings Museum is dedicated to telling the history of the American WWII military glider program. The museum was originally established by the National WWII Glider Pilots Association, Inc. View a restored WACO CG-4A, the military mainstay of the U.S. glider force that flew in every major allied invasion of the Second World War. Exhibits include vintage aircraft, photographs, uniforms, weapons, documents, and airborne equipment.

The Society operates a museum called the Carnegie History Center, which is located in the former Carnegie Public Library building in downtown Tyler. Permanent exhibits include life-size dioramas with Smith County history topics ranging from Caddo Indians to the Twentieth Century. Other items from the Society's collections are showcased in revolving, temporary exhibits. Publications, photographs, and maps are available for purchase at the museum, as well.
