Mission

ArtCenter/South Florida, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1984, exists to provide affordable workspace on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach for outstanding visual artists inall stages of career development. ArtCenter provides artists with access to resources and support, creates opportunities for experimentation and innovation, and encourages the exchange of ideas across cultures and artistic disciplines. ArtCenter serves the diverse residents and visitors of South Florida through open studios, exhibitions and education. Through its Juried Artist Program, Art Center invites emerging visual artists to become artists in residence and benefit from subsidized studio space in an environment that nurtures and promotes their creative growth. Resident artists develop and create new work year-round in open studios located at 800, 810 and 924 Lincoln Road and interact with the public through a variety of cultural and educational programs. The montly Contemporary Exhibition Program highlights work that explores traditional and experimental genres in art.

Educational Programs

Art Studies - A 24 year-old hands-on art instruction program for students of all ages and skill levels. Instruction provided by professional artists. Art Camp: An eight week summer program for children 6 - 13 years of age. A fun art program for children serious about making art, with instruction in most media. Story Time: A program that incorporates literacy and contemporary art making. Children 3 - 6 years old and their caregivers are invited to participate in a reading, and then they create their own illustrated books for which they write the story. In cooperation with the Florida Center for Literary Arts at Miami Dade College and the Miami Dade Public Library System. Art Expressions: Free weekly art instructional course for patients in treatment for cancer at the Mount Sinai Medical Center and Hollywood Memorial Hospital.
