History

The association came into being in the late 1960s. The museum center began with the gift of a house built by Eugene Pillot in 1860. Gradually more buildings were acquired: historic church, 1900 doctor's office, 1869 German immigrant farm house with outbuildings, barn, log house and corn crib, and one-room schoolhouse.

Artifacts Collections

Collection of historic buildings (dates 1857-ca.1920), most from North Harris County area.

Library

Open to general public, students, scholars; does not circulate print materials; appointment necessary; cannot assist with inter-library loans.

The association has access to early snapshots of local interest through the private collections of some of its members. Approximately half of the permanent collection has been visually documented.

Monthly newsletter, September through May.

Facilities

150-person church (used for performance area); farm museum (barn) is wheelchair-accessible.

Programs

The association has a docent program and provides tours to school classes, scouts, and the general public. Annual open house the second weekend in December- Evenings
