Description

The Dallas Arboretum is a beautiful changeable display garden located adjacent to White Rock Lake in Dallas. Seasonal festivals during the spring (March-April) and again in the fall (October-November) celebrate the glorious floral displays and also include entertainment, kids' activities and exhibits.

Holiday at the Arboretum (December)is a great time to enjoy the beautiful holiday decorations in the historic DeGolyer home and other festive activities.

Concerts, adult and children's educational programming and activities occur throughout the year.

History

The Dallas Arboretum began as a vision of several private individuals in the early 70's and became a reality through the acquisition of the 44 acre DeGolyer estate and the adjoining 22 acre Camp estate. The DeGolyer home is on the national historic register and is open for tours.

Since 1989 several individual garden areas have been designed and constructed.

Currently under construction is a Visitor Education Pavilion which will include an orientation theater, two classroom facilities, a large multi-purpose room with catering facilities, an expanded gift shop, and office space.
