Description

The International Vacuum Tube Museum is dedicated to being the preeminent international organization devoted to the collection, education, study, exhibition, research, conservation, interpretation, preservation and documentation of vacuum tubes and vacuum tube artifacts.

Mission

The Mission of the Museum is the preservation of the history and future of all things vacuum-tube, including all vacuum-tube-based instruments and equipment and every type of vacuum tube.

History

The International Vacuum Tube Museum is a Federally-Recognized 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization. Under US Federal 501(c)(3) status, the Museum's National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities (NTEE) code is A57, Science & Technology Museum.

Research and development began in 1994 for the foundations for the International Vacuum Tube Museum. IVTM was incubated beginning in 2007 by the Novum Institute. Various collectors and supporters have helped the Museum and Library over many years building, restoring, testing, designing, collecting and using vacuum tube-based radios, televisions, test equipment, audio systems, lights, computers, music equipment, oscilloscopes, and numerous other interesting vacuum tube-based instruments, components and equipment.

Dozens of people have donated over the past years and the Museum and Library has an extensive collection of thousands of vacuum tubes, tube-based equipment and instruments, and thousands of books, films, videos, journals, journal articles, technical reports, conference proceedings, rare books, special collections, manuscripts, newspaper and magazine articles, textbooks, microfiche, microfilm, photographs, etc.
