When the Corry Area School District is closed due to weather, we are also closed.
There is no admission fee to enter the museum. We always appreciate a donation, although none is expected. We rely on the generosity of the community and guests. Memberships are also available.

Our museum now houses over 20,000 artifacts in 12,000 sq. ft. of space. In addition, our Archive Room is chock full of interesting photographs, maps, genealogical information, and notebooks filled with newspaper articles organized by last name, organization, business, or event.
Our Mission is to collect and preserve (or present to the Historical Museum Building) any article or articles pertaining to the history of the Corry Area, which encompasses the Corry Area School District.
The Corry Area Historical Society, Inc. was born out of a search --- a search which began in 1959 and culminated on June 1, 1965 when the first meeting was held to form the Society. The search was for a Climax engine - a coal-fired locomotive which was built in Corry up until 1930. In 1967, the Climax engine was enclosed in a building designed by Norm Edinger and built with volunteer labor.
Our museum now houses over 20,000 artifacts in 12,000 sq. ft. of space, including a Climax locomotive, firetruck, curated displays, and more.
This amazing research trove has several million entries, just for the surname notebooks. There are also notebooks for businesses, communities, sports, churches, schools, events, and more.
We host a monthly Speaker Series during the summer months, along with specialty events for the public when possible.
We have recently enhanced our displays, installed a new furnace, painted the meeting room and office area, repaired and painted the outside of the building, added security and fire protection, and completed many more improvements.
A Board of Directors choose the officers for the year. The public chooses a rotating group of Board members at a yearly meeting each fall.
The majority of the work was made possible by grants from the Greater Erie Community Foundation and untold hours of donated time, labor and monies from willing workers in our community. Trades people, professionals and "just plain folks" all contributed in a big way to help make the museum what it is. Today, the museum houses a wealth of history from Corry and the surrounding area.

Please provide as much information as possible. Use a new form for each person, place, event, or item. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for results. The more information that you can provide will improve results. Please strongly consider making a donation for research. Volunteers work diligently to provide accurate and timely information on behalf of the Historical Society.

The Cat's Meow Village collectables showcasing Corry's architectural treasures, past and present, are available for sale in the museum. We appreciate our generous benefactor, Nancy Turner, who donated the items. We are selling the buildings for $5 each and the smaller items for $3 each. A full set costs $50 plus shipping if necessary. Collectables include: Armory, City Park cannon, Elks Club, Country Peddler, Mt. Laurel bush, Civil War statue, Water Company, First United Methodist Church, Corry Journal, City Building, Museum, Christian Science Reading Room, and the Day Lily Inn. Stop by the museum or contact us to purchase these items.
