The Washburn County Historical Museum and Society is dedicated to the preservation of local history. Our collection a one room school house, a Sky Watch building that was used in WWII as well as the Korean War a church and parsonage. The buildings are full of objects of local historical value.
We have collections from the logging era, the railroad, Shell Lake and Peterson boat works, Native American collection, clothing, furniture, music boxes, items from the Civil War, WWI, WWII and the Korean War, old flags, the school house is fully equipped with desks and books that have been used over the past 100 years, old bibles, church alters, toys, a dentist chair from the 40's, a permanent machine from the 1930's and many more items.
We have newspapers from both Spooner and Washburn County, the Washburn County newspapers go back to the 1880's and the Spooner Advocate from 1928 to present. We have plat books, family histories, census records, photographs and many other research materials
