Founded in 1916 with the goal of preserving and displaying memorabilia from Wallingford's rich history and providing a source of education about our ever-evolving, centuries old town.
Located at 180 South Main Street in the historic Parsons House, built in 1759, likely by John Parsons. Through the years it was a tavern and, as the house is located just of the Post Road, operated for number of years as a stage stop. In the early 1800s, Caleb Thompson, a skilled cabinet maker, built coffins in his shop on the property.
In 1916, Fannie Ives Schember, granddaughter of Caleb Thompson, donated the Parsons House to the WHS. The rest, as they say, is history.
We are open Sunday afternoons.
