Description

The physical location of the museum is not related to the mailing address. Mapping programs will not display actual location of the museum. The 45th Space Wing Public Affairs Office hosts a free historic bus tour for the general public the second Wednesday of each month. The three-hour tour includes visits to the Air Force Space and Missile Museum, historic launch pads and the historic Cape Canaveral Lighthouse. The tour begins at 9:00 AM at the south gate of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Participants must meet directly across the street from the Pass & ID building no later than 8:45 AM. Call the 45th Space Wing Public Affairs Office at 321-494-5949 for information and reservations.

Public Affairs tour restrictions: No children under 12 years of age. No Foreign Nationals. Adults must be able to present two forms of official identification such as a driver’s license and passport when boarding the bus. Reservations are required and seating is limited. Everyone must sign up by the Friday prior to the tour. Bus and most historic facilities are NOT handicap accessible. Tours are subject to cancellation due to mission requirements.

The museum is also open to the general public via a bus tour that originates from The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. NASA/Delaware North Parks Service operates a bus tour 7 days a week (launch schedule permitting) called "Cape Canaveral: Then and Now." The tour lasts about 2 1/2 hours and includes a stop at the museum, NASA's Launch Complex 5/6, and various other historic launch complexes at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. For more information about the tour call 866-737-5235 or visit Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex online.

The Air Force Space & Missile History Center, a companion to the museum, opened to the public on 13 August 2010. It is located just outside the south gate of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station with no access pass required for a visit. The History Center contains historic information and displays for each launch complex at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

The museum’s Research Library is maintained as a repository of technical and historical information to aid the staff and volunteers in the design and creation of exhibits, artifact restoration, and historical research. Research assistance is also provided to government organizations, academic institutions, DOD contractors, and professional historians. Due to staffing limitations, the museum library is currently closed to the general public. If you have a question regarding Patrick Air Force Base or Cape Canaveral Air Force Station history, please contact the 45th Space Wing History Office at 321- 854-2710. You may also contact the Research Division of the National Museum of the United States Air Force for assistance with your historical research or information requests.
