Description

The museum has three levels and 27 rooms for public viewing. We are in the process of gaining another two level building and increasing our collection for the general public.

History

The museum was a brain child of Hazel and John Gresham and was opened in 1961. The museum has created awareness of the history of the area and its community members. The collection is housed in a cabin built in 1883. It gives an example of what life was like during the many eras of the American Westward expansion and settlement of the area. From mining, logging, ranching, farming and entertaining, the museum depicts it all.

Research Collections

Local history complied by Hazel Gresham and Adah Bailey. Can be viewed in the library room at the museum. Local history books for viewing or for sale at the museum.

Educational Programs

There are no guided tours, it is a leisurely walk through the collection, but any questions are welcome and will be answered, if possible, by docents on staff. Our museum staff accomodates all groups and student/academic groups if they are walk-ins or have called ahead and given notification of viewing date. If Wednesday is the only date that the museum can be viewed by a patron, please call ahead and make special arrangements with: Sherry Phillips 970.723.8371 Carolyn Huismann 970.723.8228 Verna Harris 970.723.4692 or during opening hours: museum 970.723.3282'
