The Peace Center was founded in 1983 by concerned members of the community who felt it was important for groups working on peace and justice issues to have a place to go to share in and support each other's work. Over those two decades of grassroots action, we have built up a significant archive.

Belen Harvey House Museum

The Santa Fe railroad arrived in Belen in 1880, when Belen was just a small farming community. For the next 25 years, there was little train traffic through Belen, because the main rail line went west from Albuquerque. But in 1908 the railroad opened a new line that avoided the steep grades over Raton Pass. This new line was the Belen cut-off, and it routed many more trains through Belen. Belen began to bustle.

Los Alamos Historical Museum

We preserve and interpret the 1.5 million years of history of the area, from the explosion of a volcano that shaped our landscape to the explosion of the atomic bomb made in our town that shaped the world both militarily and scientifically. We plan to administer the historic home of Manhattan Project Scientific Director, J. Robert Oppenheimer and open a newly-restored homesteading cabin on our grounds.

Situated on the corner of Main Street and Luna Avenue(Under the water tower, The Los Lunas museum of Heritage and Arts is housed in a historic building that has had a variety of tenants over the years. The museum was founded in 2008 as a special collections branch of the Los Lunas Public Library.

Northern New Mexico Regional Art Center

ACFL has changed its name to the Northern New Mexico Regional Art Center (NNMRAC) and it is now partnering with the City of Española to provide arts management support to the Department of Community Services on the Plaza de Española. NNMRAC is located in the Convento on the Plaza, where NNMRAC sponsors year-round art classes and workshops for adults, after school and summer classes for children and youth, senior citizens, and for adults with disabilities.

The Branigan Cultural Center is housed in a 1935 Territorial Style building. Exhibit include: "Las Cruces: Crossroads of History" a permanent regional history exhibit, two changing exhibit galleries and educational programming provide insight into the region's interesting past and lively present.

El Rancho de las Golondrinas

El Rancho de las Golondrinas is a living history museum located on 200 acres in a rural farming valley just south of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Museum, dedicated to the history, heritage and culture of 18th and 19th century New Mexico, opened in 1972. Original colonial buildings on the site date from the early 1700s. In addition, historic buildings from other parts of northern New Mexico have been reconstructed at Las Golondrinas. Villagers clothed in the styles of the times show how life was lived on the frontier in early New Mexico. Special festivals and weekend events offer visitors an in-depth look into the celebrations, music, dance and many other aspects of life in the Spanish, Mexican and Territorial periods of the Southwest.

And yet last year alone we welcomed over 375,000 visitors to our campus.

The Salmon Ruins Library holds over 17,000 books, periodicals, and technical reports on the various aspects of archaeology, anthropology, geology, and regional history. The Salmon Ruins Library is open to every member of the public for research purposes. However, check-out privileges are restricted to members of the San Juan County Museum Association, San Juan County Archaeological Association, and to members of the Totah Tracers.
