Monessen Heritage Museum is a new museum in Westmoreland County. It opened its doors in October of 2004. It is owned and operated by the Greater Monessen Historical Society, which has been in existence since 1993 and has a membership of over 200 persons. The museum is housed in a four story commercial building which was donated to the GMHS.

Nemacolin Castle, also known as Bowman's Castle, was built in present-day Brownsville, Pennsylvania, at the western terminus of the Nemacolin's Trail. It was built around the original trading post, which was built near the site of Fort Burd, the latter built by British colonists during the French and Indian War.
