Monessen Heritage Museum is a new museum in Westmoreland County. It opened its doors in October of 2004. It is owned and operated by the Greater Monessen Historical Society, which has been in existence since 1993 and has a membership of over 200 persons. The museum is housed in a four story commercial building which was donated to the GMHS.

The Rostraver Township Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation of history, artifacts, historic buildings, and, with a primary interest in bringing public awareness to the importance of this mission, emphasizing the uniqueness of the area. The RTHS meets at the Historic Fells Methodist Church, the first Methodist Church to locate in Rostraver Township.

The Society is located twelve miles south of Pittsburgh. The Society's history center is located in the old Pittsburgh Coal's freight station at 6425 Pleasant Street in South Park Township, where there are displays of agricultural and mining artifacts, and a research center that contains thousands of photos of families and industry of earlier times.
