Old Fort Johnson is the original limestone house built by Sir William Johnson, Superintendent of Indian Affairs and hero at the Battles of Lake George and Fort Niagara. The Fort was home to William, Catherine Wisenberg, Molly Brant, John Johnson and family throughout the French & Indian War.

The museum collection is housed in a 100-year old brick building which formerly served as an elementary school. Our extensive assortment of approximately 25,000 artifacts fall into four categories: multicultural, Victorian, natural history, and items that relate to Mohawk Valley's colorful industrial past (documentary, photographic and tangible).
