Our vision is for our house mesum to become the premier heritage tourism destination in the upstate SC. Our long term goal is to become another reason to visit the upstate. We plan for our house museum to be a major historical site for school children across the state to visit. To accomplish, the Foundation sponsors a number of special educational events each year. We have hosted roughly 1,000 school children each year for our tours.

Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site
Charleston, South Carolina

Archaeology, Culture, History, Military, Park, Zoo

Charles Towne Landing SHS has undergone a visionary and physical redevelopment over the last 10 years. The physical redevelopment was highlighted in 2006 by the grand opening of a brand new exhibit hall and visitor center that tells the story of the first 10 years of the settlement of Charles Towne. As the first site of the original settlement of Charles Towne (Charleston), the site is an archaeological museum as well, with continuous excavations that slowly uncover clues to the first settlement's inhabitants. Animals that roamed Carolina at the time of English settlement are highlighted in the Animal Forest zoo. A new otter habitat opened to the public in April 2011.

Colleton Museum & Farmers Market
Walterboro, South Carolina

Art, Culture, History, Natural History

The Colleton Museum is a local natural and cultural history museum. At the moment we are crammed into a small space with few personel and even fewer opportunities to properly interpret the artifacts in our care. We would like to see the museum inhabit a larger space with properly curated exhibits that capture the unique history of the Colleton County Lowcountry of South Carolina.
