The Children's Museum of Tacoma provides the community with opportunities for children to learn and grow. Serving many ages, museum exhibits and programs bring families closer together through play, creation and imagination. Unique, hands-on exhibits create a place to explore and dream. Children will test independence and gain self-confidence through the arts, sciences and creative play. Come play!

Our vision is for our house mesum to become the premier heritage tourism destination in the upstate SC. Our long term goal is to become another reason to visit the upstate. We plan for our house museum to be a major historical site for school children across the state to visit. To accomplish, the Foundation sponsors a number of special educational events each year. We have hosted roughly 1,000 school children each year for our tours.

The Pendleton Historic Foundation owns and operates two antebellum historic homes-Ashtabula and Woodburn. The Foundation receives no federal or state government funding, and therefore relies on tours, special events, donations, and grants for operations and maintenance. The Pendleton Historic Foundation is a part of the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor. The Sumter County Museum is a private non-profit institution whose mission is to promote the history of Old Sumter District through the preservation and exhibition of objects, manuscripts, and documents, which relate the story of this area of South Carolina. The museum includes the Williams-Brice House (1916), the Heritage Education Center (2003) and the Carolina Backcountry Homestead.

The mission of the Spartanburg County Historical Association is to explore and preserve our region's history by collecting and sharing the stories of the people who shaped that history. To accomplish this mission, the Association engages visitors in unique living history programs and events in the city and county of Spartanburg; inspires learners of all ages to investigate the history that begins in their own backyard at our historic sites and regional museum; and involves the community in the preservation of our shared past. It undertakes this mission at the Spartanburg Regional History Museum and three historic sites: the Seay House, Historic Price House, and Walnut Grove Plantation.

The Powder Magazine museum is South Carolina's oldest public building. It has been a property of the non-profit the NSCDA-SC since 1902. Exhibits are focused on South Carolina's colonial military history, and available to the public daily.

A recent discovery at Woodburn Historical House, just off Highway 76 in Pendleton, Sc is shedding new light on how the former plantation’s farm was operated. While working on clearning portions of the former plantation home’s historical trail, the foundations of the horse barn and the blacksmith’s barn were discovered.
