The Silver Rails Gallery and Memorial Library is dedicated entirely to railroad art and literature. We explore all types of mediums in our exhibit room including watercolor, wood carving, colored pencil, photography and oils. That is only the beginning. This is a living museum so that when you come to visit it for a second time there will be something new for you too see. The library is stocked full of railroad books and magazines for your reference ands study. The Curator of the Silver Rails Gallery is Bob Cox and the gallery is funded by donations and sales of prints and gifts from our gift shop and online store.

The Moark Regional Railroad Museum offers visitors the chance to see displays of model trains and photographs of early railroading days which depict logging, lumber mills, factories, area train depots, the early steam engine and a dining car display. The museum features a train room with a model train layout which takes visitors on an imaginary train ride through an interesting countryside, featuring farms, cities, mountains, mining, the desert, rivers and industrial sites. Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center and State Museum

The Center is named in honor of Bruce R. Watkins, a political and social activist. Watkins was fueled by the need to recognize and preserve the varied contributions African-Americans made to the development of Kansas City. The center opened in December 1989 as the outgrowth of Watkins’ efforts. Construction of the Center was made possible through the work and contributions of the Bruce R. Watkins Fountain Inc., the Kansas City, Mo., Parks and Recreation Department, and the State of Missouri.

Maramec Museum

The Museum is located within the Maramec Spring Park. The Maramec Museum houses natural and cultural history exhibits. A twenty-one foot bluff, waterfall, and five-hundred gallon aquarium greets the visitors as they enter the museum. Once inside you will see a rain model with lightning, thunder, and a cool afternoon shower. Displays show the native wildlife in their natural habitats. History of the Iron Works is explained using working models and displays. While in the museum be certain to view the video "The Hidden World Beneath Maramec Spring Park". This seven minute video will take you into the Spring's cave to view the rare Southern Cavefish and Salem Cave Crayfish in their natural habitats.

The Missouri State Museum houses an impressive collection of exhibits that portray Missouri's cultural and natural history in its two main exhibit halls - the History Hall and the Resources Hall. There are also exhibits with changing artifacts in the Missouri Veterans Gallery and the Foundations Gallery (state government and the State Capitol). A series of traveling exhibits can be used as educational tools by schools, civic and other groups. Interpretive staff offers various educational programs on aspects of Missouri's natural and cultural history.
